| Randa Abdel-Fattah |
Randa Abdel-Fattah is a Sydney based lawyer and writer. She is an active member of the Australian Muslim community and a Palestinian human rights activist. Randa also volunteers her services to asylum seekers and refugees. She has recently secured a book contract with Pan Macmillan for her first young adult novel, which will be released in August 2005. Her book deals with the contemporary issue of Australian-born and ex-patriot Muslims and their questions of faith, tradition and heritage within present day Australian society as told through the voice of a seventeen year-old Australian-Palestinian-Muslim coming to terms with her “identity hyphens” and her decision to wear the hijab (the veil) in the aftermath of September 11 and in the midst of the Bali bombings. |
