Raymond Evans is a historian and the author of A History of Queensland (Cambridge, 2007) which is short-listed in the inaugural 2008 Prime Minister's Literary Awards for Non-fiction.

He taught for many years at the University of Queensland and is an adjunct professor in the Centre for Public Culture and Ideas at Griffith University.
