Sharyn Munro lives in a solar-powered mudbrick cabin on her NSW wildlife refuge. Her two non-fiction books, The Woman on the Mountain (Exisle 2007) and Mountain Tails (Exisle 2009), are set there. She also writes freelance non-fiction articles. Her favourite genre is the short story, and her stories have won many awards, including national prizes like the Alan Marshall Award (2002). A 'literary activist', she aims to reach beyond the converted with her personal form of nature and environmental writing. As a place-based writer, she has deep sympathy for the people being dispossessed and the places being destroyed by mining. |
